Interview: Karen Sedillo

Karen Sedillo, the blonde beauty who has been doing ring announcing in the Extreme Wrestling Association since the very first show, is speaking for the first time about the business, herself, and a variety of other subjects. For years, she has been quiet and shy around the spotlight, only uttering the words she needed to do her job. Tonight, everything changes. We're backstage at the Nassau Coliseum with the lovely Karen...

EWA Vixxens: Karen, it's great to finally conduct an interview with you. Since the EWA opened it's door six years ago, you have been here. You've literally seen everything that has happened here.

Karen: -laughs- That is true. I've seen it all. I'm happy to be here as well. It's kind of strange, but I figured after six years, it was time to say something other than introductions and match types!

EWA Vixxens: How do you feel about the wrestling business?

Karen: Honestly, before I was hired by Misty, I didn't know anything about it other than people beat each other up. There's a lot more to the business than just fighting. It's almost an artform. I've seen so many great performers in the ring and everytime I watch I'm still astonished and awestruck.

EWA Vixxens: Do you have a favorite wrestler here?

Karen: I've always been quite partial to the champion Kaz Mayhem. He's got that dirty, gritty thing going for him that I think is pretty sexy. -chuckles- Not only that, he really gets the job done in the ring.

EWA Vixxens: I bet Mayhem will be happy to hear he's got a beautiful female admirer.

Karen: I'm sure he will. I heard what he had to say about Rosey Palm and her five friends.

EWA Vixxens: I think we all saw that. Any other favorites?

Karen: I'm a big fan of Misty Donimari in general. As a wrestler, promoter, and boss, she is just amazing. I really look up to her. As far as wrestlers go though, I loved Trinity as a wrestler. I'm also very high on Bret Shaun, Charity Donimari and Damiel Santiago. And of course I have nothing but respect for JMC and Brandon Kraus. I'll tell you, this is a crazy place to work and it's hard not to get caught up in the chaos somehow!

EWA Vixxens: How have you stayed out of everything for the past six years?

Karen: I really don't know. I guess I never caught anyone's attention and I know for sure that I just have always kept to myself. I'm actually a very quiet and shy person, if you haven't figured that out already.

EWA Vixxens: I find it hard to believe that you've never been hit on by anyone on the EWA roster.

Karen: It's true. The most I've heard were some comments about me being hot by Damian Knight on television. Other than that, nothing. Speaking of Damian, maybe he just has a thing for blondes. He has Chastity, Kandie and now Charity. All blondes. Kandie isn't blonde all the time, but she is enough to prove my point. I always thought I just didn't have the same kind of looks going for me like the over Vixxens.

EWA Vixxens: That is definitely not true. In my opinion, I'd say you give Chastity a run for her money as far as being the EWA's Blonde Bombshell.

Karen: Why thank you.

EWA Vixxens: Do you have a boyfriend?

Karen: No, I don't. I've been single for the past year.

EWA Vixxens: Why?

Karen: Being on the road so much, it's hard to keep a relationship with someone that doesn't get the business like I do. I understand why someone might not understand it because I didn't at first, but this is more than just a job, this is a lifestyle. Most men on the oustide can't handle their girl being gone all the time and the ones that can are never that great of guys. They just end up taking advantage, cheating and what not.

EWA Vixxens: Relationship problems happen plenty between wrestlers as well. Just look at all the relationships in the EWA that have come and gone.

Karen: Exactly, which is why I would rather just be single. If I meet a cool guy that I want to be with, then I'll try it out again, but I haven't met one since my last boyfriend.

EWA Vixxens: Seeing as how you're the most impartial member of the EWA roster that can give us some opinions on current situations, I'm going to ask you about some of the recent drama going on around here.

Karen: Fine by me. I'll give you my opinion.

EWA Vixxens: Bobby Andrews/James Cornett.

Karen: This is just a lot of shit rolled all together. James has a problem with not only Bobby, but Chastity as well. And then you add Cornett's wife Nikki into it, it's just a mess. I can only imagine what that tag match is going to be like!

EWA Vixxens: And you'll be there as always.

Karen: Yes I will, right by ringside. -giggles- I do think that the things Bobby did to his wife weren't right. But I also think if Chastity didn't want to have a child, she had that choice. She was thinking about her career. If she had carried the child to term, she would have lost 9, almost 10 months, of work. I'm sure she has money put away from throughout her wrestling life, but no man has the right to tell a woman what she did with her body and child is wrong.

EWA Vixxens: Fair enough. How about Damian Knight and Michael Crowe?

Karen: Wow, another mess all in its own. I has been rooting for Michael throughout it all. His brother slept with his wife and ruined his marriage. Damian got his payback and now Michael has his girl back. I think this sibling feud just needs to end. Brothers should love each other and be there for each other, not fight in Glass Cage matches!

EWA Vixxens: Kaz Mayhem in general.

Karen: I did tell you he's my favorite. He is controversial and brash and just fucking great. He really is the best champion I have seen around here in quite awhile. I read that interview he did talking about the incident with Honey and the porn. I hope Kaz controls his drinking so he doesn't black out and almost kill anybody again, but I know things like that happen when alcohol gets out of control. As far as porn goes, if that's what he wants to do, that's what he wants to do.

EWA Vixxens: Would you ever do porn?

Karen: No, that is something I would not do. I think people should do what they want for the most part, but there's a lot of things I don't do. I don't drink. I don't smoke. I don't do drugs.

EWA Vixxens: Since you don't drink, smoke or do drugs, do you look down upon those around here that smoke pot?

Karen: Not at all. I don't mind if someone does something I don't. It doesn't bother me at all. Everyone deserves to choose what they want to do with their life. If that involves indulging in substances I don't, that's just fine. I'm not going to preach to people.

EWA Vixxens: I want to play a little game with you. It's called Fuck, Kill or Marry.

Karen: -laughs- All right.

EWA Vixxens: Here are your choices: Sayton, Kaz Mayhem or Bret Shaun.

Karen: Of course you give me Mayhem, who's single, and two guys that have gorgeous girlfriends. So I guess I'll say I'd fuck Mayhem, marry Bret and kill Sayton.

EWA Vixxens: Why?

Karen: I see Bret Shaun with his wife and he's a good husband. I'd be so lucky to get a guy like that to marry me. I've already explained I think Mayhem has something sexy going on with him. And I'd kill Sayton because I'd rather do that than have Portia kill me! No offense to Sayton or anything, but his girlfriend could destroy me. I'm just a little old ring announcer, not a former EWA Hardcore Champion.

EWA Vixxens: We'll get back into some more serious questions. Thanks for playing with us.

Karen: Not a problem at all.

EWA Vixxens: How does it feel to be coming back to the EWA after the last few months?

Karen: Really, it's like coming back home. I don't feel right if I'm not out there every week doing my job. Not only that, I love the shows and I love the fans. I have more fan interaction than most of the people on the roster and, let me tell you, they are quite the characters. They love the EWA for whatever reason and they have opinions on everyone. It's interesting to hear the things they say.

EWA Vixxens: So there's a rumor going around that arguably the two hottest blondes in the EWA, Chastity Bytch and Charity Donimari, might be teaming up. As a fellow blonde Vixxen, what are your thoughts on that?

Karen: If that is indeed true, I think those two girls could be a good pair. They got a lot in common. They're blonde, beautiful, talented and have been fucked over by Michael Adonis. What more can you ask for?

EWA Vixxens: How do you feel about Michael Adonis?

Karen: I was afraid you'd ask me something like that. Don't get me wrong, I respect Mr. Adonis. At one point, he was one of my bosses and he definitely lives and breathes this business. From a woman's point of view though, he is just wrong. His wife divorced him for cheating. He gets with Chastity, breaks her heart by cheating on her with Justice, who was supposed to be a lesbian. Then he gets with Charity after her breakup with Brandon and fucks her over by cheating with Melanie. Don't these girls realize that Michael Adonis will not change. I won't be surprised to see if he bags some other girl!

EWA Vixxens: Neither would I, but that's another story. Would you ever want to get in the ring as a wrestler?

Karen: I think there are some girls that can do it and others that can't. I'm definitely in the latter category. I play sports and stuff, but I couldn't do what the wrestlers do. I'm perfectly content sitting at ringside for most of the show and getting in the ring to do my announcing before the matches. I think wrestling should be left to the professionals unless it's a KY Jelly Match!

EWA Vixxens: Would you do a match like that?

Karen: If the right situation arose, I would. If Cameron Kingsley wants to mess with me, I'll take her ass out in her own match. She's just a skinny bitch with nice legs. I don't think she really knows as much about the business as she says.

EWA Vixxens: I sense some hostility.

Karen: I have a problem with any girl that talks a lot but I don't think can really walk the walk. That's just how I was raised.

EWA Vixxens: We've already covered a lot of ground, but let's talk about what you did before you got into wrestling. How old are you now?

Karen: I turned 27 in May.

EWA Vixxens: So you've been with the EWA since you were 21?

Karen: That is correct. Before I was hired by Misty, I did some modeling but I never really made any money. I worked as a waitress too. All I ever wanted to do was be on camera and I got that. I bumped into Misty the night of the first EWA show. They didn't have a ring announcer and she approached me. I took the gig and I've been here ever since.

EWA Vixxens: Where did you grow up?

Karen: I was born in New Jersey, but I moved to Bakersfield when I was like 10. I'm a California girl. I love the beach and the sun.

EWA Vixxens: What else do you like to do? What are your interests?

Karen: I love music. I'm into biking, rollerblading, swimming, surfing. There are a lot of things I do on my spare time if I have the chance and I'm at home near the beach. On the road, I read a lot, watch TV or movies, go to the gym or even go out to clubs sometimes. I'm not big on going out though. I'd much rather spend a nice evening at home.

EWA Vixxens: By yourself?

Karen: I'm used to being by myself. I've been doing it for a long time. It would be nice to have someone around to talk to or hang out with or even just have sex with, but I can do without. I'm not a clingy person. I'm very independent. I don't need anyone to do anything for me unless I'm incapable of accomplishing something.

EWA Vixxens: Would you ever pose nude?

Karen: I already have.

EWA Vixxens: Really? When?

Karen: This was a few years ago when I was low on money and I had to do what I had to do. They weren't bad pictures with my legs spread wide open or anything. You could see my whole body, but they were tasteful. This wasn't porn.

EWA Vixxens: What's the difference between porn and nude pictures to you?

Karen: Being naked isn't anything to be ashamed of. Now being naked, spreading your legs and letting everyone see something so private just isn't something I would be up for. Chicks that masturbate or fuck people on camera I just don't understand. But, if that's what they want to do, they can have fun. Someone has to provide the pornography in this world.

EWA Vixxens: You think there are any naked pictures of you floating around on the internet?

Karen: Probably.

EWA Vixxens: If you find them, will you send them my way?

Karen: I don't think so! Nice try though.

EWA Vixxens: Can't blame me for trying. Now, I have one final question for you and it's a real thinker. If you could have dinner with four people, dead or alive, who would they be?

Karen: Number one would be Janis Joplin because she's the queen of rock n' roll. Then there would be Hunter S. Thompson because he's Hunter S. Thompson! Marilyn Monroe for being one of my icons and the original blonde bombshell. Last but not least, Johnny Depp because I think he is the greatest actor of our generation.
